US and EU are considering expanding sanctions against Russia

United States provide for increased sanctions against Russian sector of the economy in the event of further violations of the Minsk Agreement. This was noted during the hearing in the House of Representatives Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland.

At the same time, the State Department spokesman acknowledged that the conflict in eastern Ukraine is artificial. "It is controlled by the Kremlin, fueled by Russian tanks and heavy weapons, to be paid at the expense of Russian taxpayers and cost the lives of young Russians."

Nuland added that in the coming days - not weeks or months - the US expect to see the real result of a peaceful settlement in Ukraine. It includes a complete cease-fire throughout the territory of Eastern Ukraine, full and unhindered access of OSCE observers to all the conflict zone, including the territories under the control of militants, complete retraction of all heavy weapons by all parties under the supervision and control of the OSCE.
